I know this will be difficult for many of you to relate to, but remember, I live on a farm. Yesterday three coyotes were just hanging out in the middle of our fields around noon (which is unusual because usually we only see one of them and it's in the early morning or around dusk). Due to the overpopulation of coyotes and the safety of our animals and us, my husband does try to shoot them. However, those pups are smart and stay just far enough away that my husband cannot get a good enough aim. I am so frustrated that we keep seeing them ocassionally because it has made me feel unsafe on my own property. Before we actually lived up on the farm, for years, we would come hike the fields and woods. But, I've noticed since we moved up here I have not gone hiking very often. Once when we were hiking one of my labs got on the scent of something, took off, and we heard a huge dog fight far away and still to this day don't know what happened (she came back with a slight limp and that was it). Now with the ever present coyotes I just don't feel safe to hike anymore. It makes me sad because it is one of my favorite things and now I feel scared to even walk the perimeter of the field with my dogs. This was one of my best workouts and I'm not quite sure how I can get over my fear...
