11/5/09 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Thursday

by Katie (Jenny Craig 2009 Poster Girl) 5. November 2009 21:10

Tonight was parent teacher conferences.  Our PTA always does an amazing, elaborate dinner for the teachers.  The problem with that is it usually has so much tempting food from appetizers, dinner, to dessert.  They typically do yummy soups (broccoli and cheddar), lasagna, Chinese, Skyline, and the dessert table is enough to make you gain 10 pounds just from looking at it!  Tonight we were lucky enough to have Skyline Chili and this huge delicious pretzel sandwich.  In past years I have either gotten a small pretzel turkey sandwich with a lot of raw veggies or a salad (if there's one without dressing all over it) and pasta with kidney beans, onions, and hot sauce.  There is usually some kind of good choice you can find when you are not in charge of your own dinner.  The problem is I am working diligently on bringing down my weight.  With that said, this means packing a dinner that I know for sure is healthy.  So, I decided to go quick and easy:  I packed a light Caesar salad kit and a Jenny's dinner.  I also thought ahead realizing I would be here till about 9 and knew I would want my fruit so I packed that too.  All I can do is try my best and once I nip this weight gain in the bud I will go back to being a little more relaxed and leniant.
